Are you confused by the never ending array of health care problems that grow by the minute and seem to lack any real answers in spite of a "gazillion" committees and task forces appointed (from the Governor on down) to study and recommend solutions now? Will this coming fiscal session of the legislature "offer up" the proposals we've already begun to hear about, that will:

  • Create new transparency about health care charges, costs, etc.;
  • Create new taxes to shore up a struggling Medicaid program and Charity Hospital System;
  • Create new standards for health plans that affect claims payment, credentialing and much more;
  • Create local options for indigent care, realign priorities for core benefits and reduce cost shifting to private payers; and
  • Create new economic incentives for employers to offer (and employees to take when offered) health care benefits, thus reducing the number of uninsured?

You can find out by attending this unique Conference in which each of the major stakeholder groups — purchasers, payors (including the public payors) and providers — will have an opportunity to present their legislative goals for this spring. Getting each perspective on what employers, health plans, hospitals, physicians, DHH, the LSU Health (Charity Hospital) System view as threats and solutions will be extraordinarily helpful when you see these ideas presented as legislation and explained in upcoming LBGH "Legislative Updates" and "Alerts." Especially since we will be asking for your help in contacting legislators on the issues
